The IOC recommends excluding athletes from Russia and Belarus from international competitions and takes away Putin’s order
Reactions to Russia’s attack on Ukraine are evident in all sports. The opinion was also issued by International Olympic Committee, whose Executive Committee has voted to exclude athletes from Russia and Belarus from competing in all international competitions. The committee’s authorities also stripped Putin and other Russian politicians of their Olympic Orders.
IOC expresses full solidarity with Ukraine and appreciates the appeals of Russian athletes opposing the war. Nevertheless, the authorities of the committee decided that due to the shameful assault on an independent country, sanctions against Russia and Belarus are necessary.
